Data Backup and Recovery

OITS provides a server backup and recovery service using Tivoli Storage Manager running on a handful of Wintel hosts located at the LSOB and TODC data centers. Subscribed servers are backed up through the network to the host servers where the backed up data is held on a temporary disk storage pool. Once the backups are complete, a process is ran to copy the backed up data to a permanent onsite disk system using data deduplication technology, and to a permanent offsite automated tape library. The disk repository provides a source for very fast concurrent recovery to multiple servers, while the tape repository provides a failsafe image for disaster recovery.

SAN Storage and Replication

OITS provides Storage Area Network services for tenants of the LSOB and TODC data centers. Servers housed within these data centers can be connected to the SAN, providing high performance, reliable, cost effective storage. Data held on the SAN can be replicated offsite as an optional service.
